Jai Hart’s "Landscapes + Lines" Jan 27 - March 31, 2015
In her newest works, Hart paints on diaphanous materials. The transparent view opens up and expose the constructed frames and areas of her paintings. Her passion for drawing is seen in her use of thread as a way to draw and sculpt thus, defining the areas within and between the framed areas under the surface of her canvas. Hart works beyond the canvas surface getting beneath and inside a painting between the frames. One can literally see inside her paintings. It is her use of paint that she pours, drips and becomes still in mid air, with gestural sculpted lines in and out of her frames that she constructs inside of her paintings. In doing this she pushes and merges painting, drawing and sculpture so they all work independently but off of each other so to give the viewer a different kind of interaction.
Hart has exhibited both nationally and internationally. Her Shows Include Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT, CristineRose Gallery New York, NY, The State University New York, Albany, Virginia Common Wealth University, VA., New Bedford Art Museum, New Bedford, MA. International exhibitions include the Mart Zones Contemporary Art Museum, Rovereto,(TN) Italy, The International School of Art, Umbria Italy, The Shaqab College of Design Arts, Doha, Qatar, and the Gangneung Cultural Art Center in Gangneung, Korea.
